Financial Stewardship Resources
Our Mission
Financial Stewardship Resources, Inc. (FSR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that presents training to assist charitable, religious and other nonprofit organizations in assessing and managing their financial risks.
Small and medium sized nonprofit organizations often provide little or no training for new and/or existing board members. Since time and money are scarce, board members focus on the nonprofit's provision of services and related fund-raising. These situations may result in board members being unaware of conditions that can result in liability such as embezzlement and/or lawsuits over employment practices, taxation issues and child abuse.
These and other serious issues can severely deplete a nonprofit's financial resources while causing the organization and its board to become unwelcome headlines. Such problems quickly erode the confidence of donors and funding sources, while discouraging potential volunteers from stepping forward to serve.
Financial Resource Stewardship presenters are specialists in their fields and can help board members understand how to manage nonprofit organization risks. Our programs often include speakers from the Oregon Attorney General's office (Oregon Department of Justice) and Internal Revenue Service (Tax Exempt Organization Division).
